Becky was born and educated in Essex, England, begun her degree at Wimbledon School of Art, London in 1993, moved to Canada in 1995 and graduated with a BFA major in Photography in 1998 from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax.
At this time she entered the motion picture industry as a lighting technician and applied to the Cinematographers Guild of Canada for onset training to become a camera assistant. By 2000 Becky was working in the Maritimes and Toronto as a clapper/loader on major motion pictures, commercials and documentaries. While gaining experience in her technical field Becky began her independent filmmaking career working beside other east coast artists and filmmakers as their cinematographer.
Becky has balanced a technical film career with the photographic arts exhibiting her stills in England and Canada, has won a Kodak Award for her work, and continues to enter private collections. In 2011, a multi-award winning short film ‘Rhonda’s Party’, with Becky as Director of Photography, also won Achievement in Cinematography at the En Route Film Festival.
In 2012 documentaries took her focus: working as a technical assistant with ‘Arctic Defenders’ and an NFB project about the Eastern Coyote as well as embracing directing a film on the late photographic artist, Margaret Watkins.
2012 also saw her launch Oculus Arts, a venture to exhibit and represent photographic artists in Canada and open a small gallery in Toronto.
